spotting b/t periods; turn 41 in a couple months = perimenopause?

I spotted b/t my periods -- for the first time in my life -- during this cycle. It was right before I ovulated, I think. I made an appt to go to the GYN in 2 weeks to rule out other things. I feel like I'm too young for perimenopause .... but I feel like I'm too young to be in my 40s, too.

Actually I think that you are right at the age when perimenopause starts really kicking into gear. Weird, irregular periods can last for years and years. These hormonal changes aren't like flipping switch. It's usually not an overnight process...it takes time.

Since this is a new symptom for you, I think it's good that you are getting it checked out. In fact, spotting in between periods is usually a good thing to get checked out.
