Private Schools in PG County

What are the best private schools in PG County?

"Best" is very loose and subjective criteria.

Most PG private schools (roughly 3/4) are religiously-affiliated (Catholic, SDA, Lutheran). It's a safe bet the parents value a religious education, which you may or may not.

There's a fair size contingent of schools for kids with SNs (Chelsea School moved there for dtwn SS).

What area of PG County? In the Mt. Ranier/ Hyattsville/ UP corridor the main options are Friend's Community School and St. Jerome's Academy. It is impossible to get in, but people love Christian Family Montessori School. For a high school boy St. Anselm's Abbey School has excellent academics and is only a few minutes away. With the exception of St. Anselm's, none are as strong as the DC independent schools .

Maybe instead of "Best" I should say what are the well performing or competitive private schools in PG County? THanks for your feedback!

A fair amount of PG kids come to Alexandria in search of the best fit.

New Hope Academy has gone down hill. They'll accept anybody just to fill spaces.

Well, St. Jerome Basketball players get recruited to all the DC "independent" schools so they must have academics that the "independent" schools find "strong".

If you are in the Bowie area and at least one parent is not commuting into DC for work, then check out the Annapolis private schools. You can drive to Annapolis very quickly and it is a nice area. You might look at the Key School or St. Anne's. I don't have experience with either school personally.

A number of families use a bus service to come from a central location in Prince George's to Grace Episcopal in Kensington.
