Aquarium in living room

Is it low class?

It's very 80's black leather couches, and very new money. Having said that, we have one in the kitchen.

No but an aquarium in the bedroom is definitely low class.

Keeping a nice aquarium is $$$... Are you talking about a little tank with guppies and treasure chests?

I would love a saltwater aquarium in the living room. My dentist has a gorgeous one. They have a calming influence.

Low class.

Hell no.

Then again, I grew up in the 70's where everyone had one in their homes.

I used to love it when at night, all the lights would be turned off and the aquarium would be illuminated and I could watch the fish swim around until I fell asleep. Oh...The good ol' days.

Now my kids just see the illumination of their iPads before bed.

This brings up another question.

Are waterbeds low class?

If you like it, can maintain it, and it reduces your blood pressure and stress- go for it.

If you like it, can maintain it and it reduces your stress and blood pressure and back ache- go for it. Make sure your bedroom floor can support it.

We have a 75 gallon african cichlid tank in our kitchen. We made it resemble their natural environment as much as possible. The kids love it and I love it. I will actually watch them while I drink my morning coffee. I also suck at taking care of the upkeep, so I hired someone to do it.

If it's a nice aquarium, I think it would be awesome! Aquariums are so calming and beautiful.

Definitely not! But it does require maintenance, to keep the water clean. It is low class if you don't do the maintenance.

We had a beautiful 75-gallon tank with clown loaches in the living room, for several years. I raised them from tiny babies to a good size.
It required regular maintenance to look that good. I never cared what anyone thought, the location worked well for us. We had to rehome the fish once they outgrew the tank. I miss them, but they have an even bigger and better tank in their new place.

We have a small saltwater tank in the kitchen-
Low class? Possibly.
Cleaner than a cat? Definitely.
