From airport to hotel...

What do you do when there is a distance to travel from the airport to the hotel when traveling with 2 little ones, but a rental car isn't needed? Take a cab without carseats? Take the hotel shuttle without carseats? Bring the carseats and use them for this short ride?

A lot of car services can pick you up with car seats (maybe or maybe not expired, maybe or maybe not installed correctly). That's probably what I'd do.

Hotel shuttle without seats is my first choice, followed by cab without seats (if it's late, I'm in a rush, hotel shuttle will be more than 20 min, etc).

Depends on the distance, the type of roads, and the age of the kids. If the only option were a cab/car service, and they couldn't guarantee an appropriate car seat, I probably would bring our lighter-weight travel carseat. Now that DC is 4 I'd consider bringing an inflatable booster instead, for a short ride.
