DH just witnessed somebody hock a 3.5 ct. VS1 diamond at that jewelry store in the same building as cash point next to Tysons mall on Route 7 for $8,000. . . .

$8k is a bit more than nothing. I agree with you that the diamond market is extremely distorted, but the good quality ones are worth something.
