Repeating Second Grade

| Our son will be starting at a MD private school in the fall, but will need to repeat second grade to catch up to the academics there. Anyone have a similar experience at a local private? Thanks! |

| Where was he in school before, and how did they determine that he was a year behind academically? |

| Yes, for a summer birthday son and it was the right decision for him. Difficult in the short term; however, we, too were changing schools. The difficulty came in Sunday School, Cub Scouts, and the like. There were long term benefits down the road which outweighed the momentary awkwardness. |
