| My son's birthday is next month, and we're in the planning phase now. I'd like to use a small, local cupcake shop because I am big on buying local. Georgetown Cupcake is good, but I'm interesting supporting the smaller guys... any recommendations? I'm not looking for grocery store cupcakes, BTW and I want something that both kids AND parents will enjoy. |
| Where are you located? There are roughly 8 million cupcake shops in the DC metro area. |
I'm located in DC. I know where cupcake shops are, I'm just looking for recommendations as to which ones are good/preferred. |
| Sweet Lobby is my favorite. |
| LOL. GT Cupcakes are my fave also and I have not found ones that I like better. But I live close to Sweet Lobby and think their cupcakes are so dry and not good. Sad because they look pretty! |
| We like Sticky Fingers |

Someone just asked for cupcake shop recommendations last month so you might find some recommendations there.

| There is a parent at my son's school who has a cupcake company. She delivers free in DC and wholesales to local restaurants. I swear, they are the best I have ever had. If you want her biz info, I'll be glad to post it. |
OP here... please post! |
| Baked and Wired in Georgetown is BETTER than G'town cupcakes, IMO. |
The name of her company is Savannah Cupcake. I'm pretty sure she has a website and has all the social media sites as well, but since I see her regularly, I don't go that route. But it will be worth it for you, I promise. Good luck! |
| Fraiche in Bethesda is really very good. By all means, stay away from Crumbs, which tastes pretty crumby. |
Ironically, I heard today that they are closing all of their stores. |

Baked n wired are the best.
Nice little place in friendship heights-- Frosting. |
| Sad to report that Frosting is no longer a cupcake place. It has a new owner and has becomes general bakery/coffee place. So sad to lose our neighborhood cupcake place. |
