| We are going to be visiting a relative's vineyard in CA soon and want to bring them a gift since we haven't seen them in several years and they will be giving us a tour and likely sending us back with a case of wine. They are originally from CA, so no connection to MD except for the fact that some of us live here. I thought that some local foods would be a nice gift and somewhat easy to pack in our suitcase. Berger cookies and old bay come to mind for Maryland but anything fancier? Could be a DC item too or even VA. |

salty oat cookies from teaism.
if you have time, Salt and Sundry has a good selection of local food items (located in union market) |

| What's your budget? How about ordering live crabs or crabcakes for delivery? |
| Virginia Peanuts. The big tins of real VA peanuts are much better than what you get in the grocery store. |
Does CA grow peanuts? They grow so many things over there. |

That is tough - they grow so many things in CA. My mind would go to blue crabs, but I'm not sure how to really transport them.
I think just focusing on nice snacks that go with wine is a better way to go - some nuts, dried fruit, cheeses, crackers.... Signed, DC native who lived in SF for 5 years. |
| Give up on the food. Go to the Paper Source and pick out some cute political things or typically DC things. |

Mumbo sauce from union market.
DC Brau or another local craft beer. Baked And Wired Hippie Crack. |
Isn't mumbo sauce basically the red sauce from Chinese food take out places that you can get anywhere? |
