| Unfortunately, I have quite a few rounds of lab tests coming up. I tend to freak out (even well-hydrated, rested, etc.), so my doctor prescribed Valium (after 0.75 mg of Xanax did nothing). For those with experience, if I take two 5 mg Valium, will I both feel calm enough to get the labs run and go to work afterwards? |
| Are you seriously considering driving after that much Valium? 2.5 will put me to sleep. |
No, I wouldn't be driving. I would just be walking from the lab back to work and working. The question was whether that is realistic or if I need to take half a day off every time I have this done. |
| I wouldn't be able to function after that much. |
|
Doesn't Valium come in 5mg and 10mg doses? It's dosed differently than the other benzos.
Honestly, 2.5mg sounds fine. I can work with .5 Xanax in my system, but not 1mg. |

I forgot to add:
Valium takes longer to work than Xanax. Plan accordingly. |
| Update from OP (in case anyone searches for this in the future) - I had the first lab test this morning after taking 10 mg of Valium. I felt a little sleepy for about 15 minutes but have been completely functional, with it, and able to work. It did not really help very much with the anxiety. My anxiety was bad enough that they couldn't finish the procedure, even with that in my system. I think the anxiety might push the medication through your body faster. |

Sorry you didn't get through the procedure. I've found Xanax and Klonopin to be the best for preventing panic attacks. Valium doesn't have the same level of calming, but I think it's longer acting.
They can give a higher dose or put you under for a lot of things. |
