Hi- we are considering buying a house in fairfax our young kids would go to Laurel Ridge and Robinson. Any thoughts on these schools? Thank you!
Sorry, op here - should have said laurel ridge!
Both are fantastic schools, great reputations.
Both are really great schools. I actually went to Laurel Ridge and Robinson, many, many moons ago when I was a kid. I loved both schools. When in high school I especially loved Robinson because they had so many resources and options. I was an orchestra geek, and their music program was excellent. They also had all of the courses you could possible want to take -- I was mostly loading up on science and math, and was able to take everything I wanted at Robinson. The neighborhood is really family-friendly also.
Our kids go to Robinson and love it.

Laurel Ridge has Spanish immersion, so something to consider if that would be a plus for you. I've also heard that they are strong in special education — a friend's child with special needs was sent there from another school in FCPS.
Robinson has IB program rather than Advanced Placement (AP) classes. To some that could be a negative. Not too familiar with IB but it may be less desirable for kids really interested in science and math? I would look carefully into the IB details. |
OP here. Thanks so much for the feedback.
