What's considered a positive Beta level?

Anonymous
Is there just a thing as low normal or high normal? I was told it depends on how it increases daily. Anyone recall their first beat level when they found out they were pregnant? Please also list gestational age at time of beta. Thanks.

As I recall, there is low--I want to say under 20 is considered low. You can probably google this level. But, in the end, the whole beta value is very individual--they look to see if the number doubles every two days--that is considered normal. FWIW my first pregnancy my first beta was in the 200s I think and the second was around 180, but other fertility listservs have women's betas all over the map. If your beta is low/borderline/likely to fail--I have read that most REs will give you some indication of that. However, a high initial beta isn't a guarantee either.

In short, it's a trying time. Just try to be patient and optimistic.

Technically anything above 5 is positive. Most HPTs pick up anything above 20 to 25 (they usually tell you on the box). My RE wanted to see a level above 70 for a test done 10 days after a day 5 ET (~ 15 days past ovulation). Best indicator though is if the numbers double properly.

OP here: feeling miserable from OHSS (nausea, reflux, difficulty eating, very swollen belly---my belly button is tarting to flatten out), day 7 after 5d ET, so I called my regular doc to order Bhcg. It came back 40. I wasn't sure what that meant at this early stage. I guess I wanted to know this suffering wasn't in vane but now not sure what this means.

Not sure if the HCG injection from 2 weeks ago could cause level of 40. Just have to wait and see.

40 is a good BETA for 12dpo. It should double ever 2 days. Do a google and get the normal range. You are within the norm! Congrats!!!

Yeah! Thanks. I wasn't sure how to figure out the dates as we transfered 7 days ago.

I had to go to SG for fluid aspiration, where they took 2 L off. The good news is that my hcg today is 70! and I feel so much better.
