Wall paint ideas for a small nursery room-

Anonymous
I would like to re-do my DDs nursery on the cheap --ie: update wall colors; replace changing tables with ikea shelving and get a more adult chair in there than the rocking nursing thing. Her bed and the dresser and the curtains are all white. We thought of maybe painting the ceiling something fun too. I am attracted to dark purples or perriwinkle or aqua. Please throw out ideas for a semi-big girl room.

How old is she? For better or worse she will probably have an opinion on this- and perhaps a strong opinion- at some point. I;d wait until then so you can paint room then and get points with her for it. Or if you really feel strongly maybe makes sense to do immediately before she has an opinion LOL! You could also get decals- just get nice ones.

I would stay neutral with the walls and get some fun decals that you can change once she is older. You can prob get lots of ideas from pinterest too.

If it's a small room, I'd leave the ceiling alone in terms of paint.

I love purples and aqua too. I'd consider lavender wall color with plum and grey accents, e.g.:

For a more grown up chair, I like this one:

We used Valspar Window Screen (or a matched color, can't remember) from this room: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/rivers-mix-of-old-new-handmade-my-room-175360 and I LOVE it. It's a small room, not too much bigger than 8 x 10 with nice mid-day light and the color is perfect.

Agree with the wall decals for decorating on the cheap in a way that can be easily changed later. Pick the wall colors you like, then do white decals (large, small, a mix) of things your daughter likes. We have white giraffes on cafe-au-lait colored walls in my son's room and it looks great. Dark gray dinosaurs on white walls in his bathroom.

Btw, for the wall decals, just do a search on Etsy. Tons of pages will come up. In most shops, you can pick the color(s) I you want for the decal.

so funny but that is exactly the grown up chair I had in mind. Thanks for the suggestions. I like them. I do like the plum family. I'll have to work on getting the right paint shade because I don't want to end up with a cheesy purple room. I would like the purple to be interesting. My dd is 3. I just got tired of her walls (pale green) and stupid nursing chair and the changing table that never gets used anymore.
