One mattress pad or two? [Organic - not vinyl]

Anonymous
I have been told that getting two mattress pads is helpful in case the baby leaks in the night, so I can do a quick change. I'll be using an organic pad that has a covering, but it's not pure vinyl (has a cotton top), so it could be somewhat absorbent. Any thoughts on whether getting a second pad is worth it?

Definitely get a second. That way you don't have to do laundry immediately. I have two and have been thankful that I do!

I have a mattress pad but b/c of the other products I bought, I don't plan on having to change it often...

HTH - I have my baby next week so I can only share theory, LOL.

I got an organic mattress with a vinyl (food quality totally safe vinyl) covering, so instead of mattress pads, have just used towels under the sheets, so my baby was not right next to the mattress. After spending so much on the mattress, I couldn't bear the thought of spending so much on organic mattress pads too! FWIW, I have been using cloth diapers, and have had maybe one leak through at night, so changing out pads hasn't been much of an issue for me.
