Avent Isis pump - bpa free?

Anonymous
I am a new mom here, so I don't know much about breast pumps. I bought the Avent Isis because it is highly reviewed by many. However, the one I bought is not BPA free. Does it matter that the pump itself is not BPA free? (In fact, are there any pumps that are BPA free?) In terms of BPA, should I just be concerned with the bottles? Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

I think it doesn't matter if the pump is BPA free, but it'd be best to use containers/bags for the milk that are BPA free. This is because - as I understand it - the real risk from BPA is when it's heated and in contact w/ the milk. so warming a bottle up in a BPA bottle would be bad but drinking cold milk out of a cup that has BPA in it not so much of a risk since the BPA doesn't leach much unless it's heated. Since your breast pump won't be warming the milk and is just a short-term conveyer, I think it's minimal risk.
