Online ordering from international pharmacy

I regularly order stims from IVF pharmacy for my never ending cycles but today I got a call saying I need to provide some sort of ID to them like driver's license or SSN. I didn't give it on the phone and said I'll email it to them later. She told me this is a new rule. Has anyone experienced this recently?

I don't know, I order my meds through Aetna.
I would provide my driver's license but not my SSN. Verify that the phone number and email address are for IVF pharmacy.

I would call them to verify -- sounds like phishing to me.
