Hey DCUM's who are heading to Lee this year. I didn't want to post this on the lee list serv since I wasn't sure it was kosher, but I found polos in navy, kelly green and white at Kohl's for 5.99 per shirt. This is dramatically cheaper than the Risse Brothers $20 shirts. There are even 15% off coupons to add on top of that cheap price.
I just bought our next year's worth of "uniforms" and wanted to pass the pro-tip along (even cheaper than Old Navy) |
| I am surprised Lee has uniforms. I think that goes against the Montessori philosophy. |
| Target polos are 5 bucks every August. Don't notice any quality concerns (2 boys and a girl). |
It's a "dress code" not uniforms! |
|
I can't imagine why anyone would be buying the $20 Risse brother shirts. We got some from Children's place for, I think, about $6 each including shipping.
Problem with getting really cheap ones is the quality and how quickly they stain. |
| Thanks for posting! I have a low waitlist number and was wondering about Lee's dress code. What color bottoms? Buying now would probably jinx me, but just in case where do you get the coupons? I didn't even know there were kohls around here. |
|
green, white or navy shirts with a collar, any solid color bottoms (shorts, skirt, pants). you also need slippers for use in the classroom. (apparently this is a Montessori thing).
What's your waitlist number and which grade? I don't think there's been a ton of movement. |
| Why not call the school? |
Lees Pk3 WL has moved about 10 spots as far as I know. Further movement would require someone unenrolling or not showing up in August, but apparently that can happen...a couple families with twins at mundo Verde just need to move and then all wls will roll!
|
but this is true of all cheap clothing, right? |
|
For the person looking for coupons retailmenot has coupon codes. I bought them all online. There is a Kohl's in Northern silver spring but it's easier to just hold out for free shipping.
|
| Thanks! |
What do you consider a low wl? We're in the low 20s for PK3 and feeling sad we aren't going to get in. |
You're probably right, sadly. It's truly amazing that a brand new school is already so popular. We consider ourselves very lucky that the waitlist moved enough for us to get in (not ps3). |
the only reason parent shop at risse brothers is because schools like dc prep and others that take there uniform policy serious have to have a logo on the shirt . I wish we as parents had options but we don't . my sons school counts the uniforms part of there grade . therefor the logo is very important . if you can find a uniform store does logo's as well please let me know. I would love to stop paying $20.00 a shirt for my kids .
