Does anyone else use UPromise? We have been using it since our 12 y.o. was born and we have made almost $3,000 from it. Not bad considering that it is free money! We did really well during the early years when we had the UPromise credit card. Lately, we have slacked off and haven't kept up with our reward cards, but I finally have them all updated and I'm excited to start earning again. I'm thinking about getting the cc again.
I always wonder why I haven't heard more about it since we feel like it's such a great deal. Is there a catch that I don't know about? |
| No catch, we use it too. |
| eh, might pay for books. |
| Is it taxable? |
|
Op here. It is not taxable.
Also, you can ask relatives to enter their cards. I asked my parents to enter their store reward cards. I know they wouldn't feel comfortable entering credit cards, so I didn't ask about that. Once they enter their cards, they do nothing else - no skin off their back, but we earn points when they shop. Why not! |
might pay for A book by the time collage rolls around.
|
| It's not taxable because it is a rebate technically- however, if you have it transferred to the Sallie Mae account it becomes taxable, of course. We did that because the account does pay a little interest and because the Upromise $$ is real money that they will transfer every month into your account- but just in case the company folds, or whatever, at least the money is safe in that account.BTW- it is designed to fund college, but, really you don't need to really have a college fund going. It can be for anyone and used for any purpose. Not using this is like leaving money on the table. There is no catch, whatsoever. |

It is great and it is free money. I am shopping at these stores anyway. You don't need to put it a Sallie May Account or 529, they can send you a check as well.
I see no downside and I have been a part of this for years. W/o even trying. I don't use it all the time, I also earned over $3K. |
| I use it - ask for them to cut you a check and invest it in your own 529 so you earn more off of it. |
| Forgot about my account, thanks for the reminder. Cashed out about 200 bucks a few years ago. |
| Is this a credit card with money rewards? |
There is a UPromise cc, but that's only one of the options available to earn money. You do NOT have to sign up for the cc. Go to the website, and create an account. then enter all of your credit cards and store reward cards (such as CVS), and you will start earning! |
It's still free money. |
