DC hotel with pool

Anonymous
I live in DC but I'm clueless about this. A girlfriend and I want to get a room at a hotel in (or around) and spend a day or two drinking our asses off at the pool and ordering room service.

Any suggestions?

(I just read this and realized it sounded like potentially a romantic situation -- we are both 30-something mothers who have been friends for 100 years and just want a night away!)

Do you have to be in the city? Do you have a budget?

the gaylord resort in VA, approximately across the river from Alexandria might fit the bill. Closer to home there is the Westin not far from GWU.

We don't have to be in the city, but somewhere close and preferably in Virginia if not DC.

The gaylord is nice but isn't the pool only indoor? And we def want to have drinks poolside and I don't know is that is allowed there.

We are flexible on the budget -- willing to pay for what we want but aren't millionaires.

Washington Hilton north of Dupont used to have quite a pool scene, but somehow I think the renovation made it not quite as fun. But might do.

Oh, and there's that pool in SW that has a rooftop pool scene. Blanking on name, but it was a big deal when it first opened.

The Hinckley Hilton had a great pool back in the day. I remember going there to hang out when I was younger...much younger.

I think you mean the capitol skyline; it's not rooftop, though.

The weekend scene has been pretty raucous in previous years -- they have a DJ & a bunch of adult-sized inflatables & it seemed kinda meet-markety to me (but I'm an old married lady).

During the week, though, it's pretty quiet, and you can definitely drink by the pool.

Yeah, we are old married women too and want to avoid this! Can't a sister just get drunk by a pool with her friends anymore????

I am the PP who couldn't think of the name of the Capitol Skyline - never been there, but the pics looks great. I guess the word "skyline" made me think it was rooftop. In any case, I've seen hipsters making their way there in mornings.

I really think the Hilton in Dupont is what you want.

The pool at the Omni Shoreham is lovely, you can get room service or a massage pool side and there are beautiful gardens to explore.
