fashion tips for "skinny fat" women

Anonymous
I've heard the phrase before but didn't quite get it until it started to describe me. I am formerly just plain fat, lost a lot of weight and now am a very small size but... fat. My arms are big. My stomach sticks out. My legs are flabby. It sucks! What's the best way to dress in this situation?

Whichever way makes you feel comfortable. High school is over OP. Enjoy your life. When you are older you will regret caring so much what other people think. Wear whatever makes you feel confident.

Good fabrics that don't cling. You want things that hold structure on their own.

Not helpful. I am not the Op but dressing well isn't high school .

Loose, flowing clothing with a cinched in waist should be flattering, since you are not large but just need to conceal some wobbliness.

Are you lifting weights? Works to a marvel on legs and arms!
Keep watching your fat and sugar intake.

Don't wear tank tops with wide straps. They make the upper arms look thicker.
Some women wear spanx.

skinny panys with loose (but not flowy or empire) tops

This. This is something that most Americans of any size get wrong. Nobody wants to contemplate your bra buldges in back whether you are size 2 or 22. Tissue t-shirts guarantee that everyone behind you WILL be forced to see just that.

for inspiration, study some middle aged Italian or French women in DC. I happen to see this type a lot because of where I live. And I gotta say, even the plump ones look -great- in their exquisite, well-crafted clothing and simple, high-end shoes. No bra fat and side rolls on display at Jacques Dessange!

I have seen plenty of middle aged Italian women who are a size 18 but dress for a size 14.

I think some women dress for the size they were at one point in their life. By going up a size or two, they will actually look thinner, and more put together.

Like weight, size is such a psychological number. It does things to the brain.

This is ridiculous. Looking good makes you feel confident. Looking good helps you feel comfortable and enjoy life -- for yourself. OP wants fashion tips for herself, not because she cares what other people think. You are the one in high school.

Real Italian citizens VISA embassy types who frequent neiman Marcus / friendship heights? No.

Where do you suppose they shop? I would like to tighten up my wardrobe.

Skinny fat is skinny people who don't work out

That's not skinny fat. Skinny fat is someone who is thin and small but has no muscle tone.

Where can you get clothes with good fabric that holds structure on their own? Most stores that I shop at seem to have the tissue t-shirts.
