So I just saw an MCPS school bus discharge students on a two way street without flashng lights on

I did a double take. Not a very busy street but still disconcerting. Any shot the lights weren't working? I thought you couldn't open the doors without the lights flashing.....

School is over for the summer. What bus was it?
Anonymous
It's a very slim chance that the equipment wasn't working -- checking those lights is part of their pre-trip inspection.

Call the transportation department for the schools. It doesn't matter if school is out -- drivers need to follow the appropriate procedures when letting passengers off the bus.

Not OP, but some kids with SN have year round school.
Anonymous
wtf is with these vigilante posts? Call the transport office if you're that concerned.
Anonymous
Likely it was being used for campers

Summer school?
Anonymous
Likely being used for campers, but the drivers are usually MCPS drivers and know what to do.

Summer school is not in session yet. And I don't think the schools provide busing.

Are you sure that it was an MCPS bus?

No -- ESY doesn't start until July 9. There are no SN kids in Mo Co. going to school right now.

Yes. I got the bus number, too. My child doesn't go to MCPS so I don't know whether it was doing the right thing or not.

Then call or e-mail the transportation department.

Just say, "I saw an MCPS bus with bus number [whatever] at [location] on [date} discharging students on a two-way street without its flashing lights on. I don't know what your policies and procedures are, but this seemed unsafe to me."

This is incorrect.

Ivymount was in session until June 19.
MCPS buses transport county students to school.
Anonymous
Ivymount is a private school.
Anonymous
Yes Ivymount is a private school but the publicly funded kids are transported on MCPS busses.
