Recommendations regarding Shady Grove Fertility Clinic

I am 35 (almost 36) and have been TTC for nearly a year. I have luteal phase defect and have tried multiple meds at my current fertility clinic without success. I am interested in getting a second opinion and probably moving to IVF next. Just made an appointment with Dr. Chang at Shady Grove. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with Dr. Chang or can recommend any other clinics/doctors. This would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Thanks. I am curious to learn if there are any recent experiences. Also, has anyone with LPD had an experience with Dr. Chang?

Three months ago isn't recent enough for you?

A friend recommended Dr. Chang to me, but warned me not to expect the "warm and fuzzies". I had the Dr. Chang/Jessica team and left SGF. Beside manors are horrid, last minute requests and tests. SGF is a machine, I didn't know any better and thought they were my only option. If you don't fit a protocol, you are out of luck.
Switched to Dominion and got pregnant within the first month there. Yes, it is a massive BITCH to drive to Arlington, but at least there I was treated like a human and my care was personalized.

I second the vote for Dominion, I know some people don't like them but they have been great for me. However I didn't try SG since two of my coworkers had bad experiences there so I was contemplating Dr. Sacks at CFA or Dr. Payson at DF. I consulted with both and liked the staff at DF better.

Dr Greenhouse is extremely good- we liked that he gave us numbers versus fuzzies (like other clinics - including Dominion). We knew going in we had 20% or less chance - but we do have our 6 year old thanks to Dr Greenhouse. I did like Dominion but we were told (based on our history of trying for our 6 year old) like let's blast you away with hormones meanwhile Dr Greenhouse saw our records and said I had the same response despite the higher doses so why spend that money when it would not get more eggs... which was true. GL and wishing you a baby soon...

I also consulted with CFA and SG and ended up going with SG. CFA seemed more disorganized and SG although bigger seems to run like a well oiled machine.

I felt like SG ran like a well oiled machine while I was doing basic things. But when I started adding in more unusual requests like PGS then things started to get a little more disorganized. But overall, they are still relatively organized. CFA didn't seem organized at all but I only went there twice. I didn't try Dominion.

I had a great experience with Dr. Chang and his nurse Dew. I'm currently 14 weeks a a result. Although he not the warm and fuzziest, he's totally competent and did my major procedures (mock transfer, retrieval and embryo transfer). I can't say enough good things about my experience at Shady Grove. While they are a well oiled machine and have a slew of patients, the personalized care from the nurses and finance speciaists was excellent. Wishing you all the best!

Didn't work yet- but I have been impressed with all aspects so far. Much better than Cornell. Who the heck knows how good/bad or how outcomes may differ. I think it's impossible to tell which medical experience could make difference. They both seem good enough statistically. Cornell makes no attempt to individualize-- SG seems to do better job at that. I have really liked so far- and compassionate staff.

The last two sound like SG marketing team, Cornell is far superior to SG.

I totally agree. Shady Grove DOES NOT PERSONALIZE.

Cornell is far superior in statistics, but also by the reports of their patients.

That post was blatant marketing, shame on Shady Grove, they should have better things to do.

In your opinion Cornell is superior to SG.
In another person's opinion, Cornell was not so great.
Truth is, we're all allowed to have opinions and thank goodness they all differ. Why is there always a leap to suspect "blatant marketing"?

I wish this forum was not anonymous. I picture the same curmudgeon poster posts a lot of these negative comments and threads.

I'm the cornell poster and shame on you for thinking any clinic has their staff make up shit for this board. How date you judge me or my opinion. I went to Dr. spandorfer at Cornell for 4 cycles. His nurse is Jackie. Any other questions? Met with David but he won't take insurance. Cornell did not do a good job with my care overall. After 4 cycles and three years there, I hit the right to my opinion. As for SG, been better so far. Been to two other clinics as well- each doing one cycle. Have opinion on those too. One sucked more than any other medical program I have ever worked with and one was best I've ever had-as far as care went. None got me pregnant, but that's not my criteria.
Still want to judge me? Go for it!
