I want to be comfortable and I want power, but I'm ok with buying 4-5 years old as I am not spending $50K+ for a new car. I want at least reasonable gas mileage.
So out of cars like the Lexus GS 350, BMW 535, Hyundai Genesis, Mercedes E Class, which one do you think would be more reliable 4 years old with 60K miles? I'd like to get 3 good years out of it and the lowest possible depreciation and maintenance costs. |
| BMWs depreciate less than many other models. But I have not owned any of the others .... |
|
I've owned two bmws - a fantastic 5 series which have me no trouble and an x5 which routinely shit on my dreams and wallet to the point where when I traded in the x5 I practically hugged the poor bastard that bought it.
No comments on others.... My general word of caution is that luxury brands are expensive to maintain and very expensive to repair. If a few thousand dollars a year doesn't put you off, go for it. |
| Lexus GS 350. Had a 300 with 350k miles and still running strong. |
| Jeep grand cherokee |
| I think it is interesting that people are always saying these lux brands are expensive to repair. Have not repaired a lux car in 20 years. Maybe that is why they are selling a 3 year old car in the first place? |
| Lexus more comfy than Mercedes, but Mercedes has more old line style. |
| Infiniti |
| Mercedes have the worst rating for repairs and breakdowns. The best are lexus, Infiniti and Acura |
| I would look for something with a turbo diesel. |
| Can't go wrong with a 5-series with low miles. |
