| Single mom. Wondering if other women do a lot of initiating on match/ok Cupid. |
| single dad here. I've been contact by women (single moms and women 35+) more often than I've initiated contact. perhaps it's luck of the draw but I've had 3 decent relationships over two+ years using OKC. |
| I'm a single mom and if I am interested in a guy, I'll message him. I've done OK Cupid and Match.com. |

I'll selectively initiate on OK Cupid (I'm a single mom). My advice is this: send out about five two sentence hellos each week. Expect to hear back from one or two. Exchange a couple of quick emails. If they seem nice and you are interested, then offer to meet for coffee. Don't waste a lot of time on long emails or phone calls, texting, etc. You'll know pretty quickly when you meet them if they are who they have represented themselves to be. If you like them after spending an hour with them, go out on a real date. You'll probably get around 25 emails a week from guys interested in meeting you. You'll probably only be interested in one or two. Reply back to those ones.
And last, pay attention to the questions on OK Cupid. Guys are pretty honest about what they are looking for (just getting laid vs. a relationship). You can find out a lot about someone by seeing how they answer those questions. Eliminate the ones that are not compatible. Don't waste your time |

| You get out of it what you put in. If you want to sit around waiting for a guy to message you, go for it. I have much better results when I initiate conversation. |

Damn...That cartoon is HUGE.
Anyway, sure...It is 2014. I don't see why a woman cannot take the initiative + contact a man first. Men like to be flattered and when a woman approaches them first, nothing is more flattering. Just make sure, you do not find yourself always sticking your neck out there. If you find yourself doing that, then I would say you are making yourself too available and that is a huge turn-off for both men AND women. |
| I generally did not initiate but the one guy I took a chance on is the one I've been with for almost a year. Good luck! |
