Who is responsible for snow & ice removal

Anonymous
Hi, was wondering, as a landlord of a single townhouse, who is responsible for shoveling and putting down ice melt, the landlord or tenant?

I think it's whatever you put in the lease, but when renting single family homes I've always been responsible for lawn care and snow removal.

tenant unless you add a lawn or snow fee

Interesting but I would rather give the tenant the option of a lower rent if they are willing to do it.

As a renter, I would like to be in control of the lawn.

Landlord unless specifically spelled out in lease otherwise.

Unless it's part of the HOA fees (which the owner pays), then the tenant is responsible.

As renters, it's almost always been us, unless we lived in a place where the association took care of it.

the association usually does common area, like sidewalks, but not steps and driveways, right?
