Is this a first for a woman?

Oh, I see she is now "the female equivalent of a knight" -- a dame.

Really???? Why???

Good grief. There are SO many people out there who do SOOOOO MUCH good, selflessly and without fanfare, and they don't get this kind of recognition. Why should she?? Because she's not just Mrs. Smith and does humanitarian work? So do lots of people.

Knighthood/dame status has long jumped the shark.

I really like her. She seems very committed to the causes she supports. She also recognizes that she leads a very privileged life. I also liked how she was open about her risk of ovary/breast cancer and subsequent decisions regarding how to handle it.

How could she not recognize it? To do so would be completey disingenous. She doesn't seem to address what a complete shit-hot mess she used to be, though.

I don't really think that highly of her considering, that she came from a priveleged upbringing and then just dialed up a degree. That seems to be the path. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, comes from a more normal background.

Please see Ms. Paltrow. She has made numerous statements about how her life is much harder than the average mother's. After all, she has to be away from her precious fruit when making millions shooting a movie. Angelina talks about how fortunate she is to have a lot of support and how most women do not have what she does. She seems very appreciative of it. So, she could be like Gwynnie. Or she could just be silent. And she did used to be a hot mess, but people mature and change. I think she is a net positive.

I think Gwynnie had a privileged upbringing with snotty socialites and exclusive schools. I think she went to school with the Hiltons?? Angie's dad cheated on her mom and I think they didn't grow up all rich and snotty.

19:19 here. I feel strongly about what I wrote. There are many, many of unsung heroes who do a hell of a lot more than she does.

But yeah, of course I am crazy jealous of her and her life!!

Good for her! I think she's great. I wish her and her gorgeous family all the best.

Don't you have to be British?
