Do you include mortgage in this?

We only have a mortgage. I had a leased car once for 3 yrs. It was my one splurge - a convertible that was very impractical. I gave it up for a practical car when I was 34 before my baby was born. Prior to that, and currently, no other debt. I was always frugal and went to a State Univ. Even in my 20's I never carried any debt, other than a car payment in my early 20's. After that, everything was paid in cash, except the houses.

Two mortgages, one $550K, one $350K. $20K left in student loans. That's it.

Is one of the homes an investment you rent out or a vacation home?

Vacation home.

One home mortgage free, one home mortgage of 525k. No other debt. Have investments to pay off the mortgage if we want but like the tax deduction and low interest rate we have on it.

2 mortgages. One on a vacation home. No other debt. Bought the last 6 cars with cash. Aim to be mortgage free at 65 (both will be paid off at that point).

I can't help but laugh because one of the first guys that I dated online had "100% Debt Free" as a selling point in his profile. It turned out that he was Debt Free because he had been chronically underemployed for something like 22 years. He'd never made enough for anyone to extend him credit.
Needless to say, we didn't date after I learned that.

Just hit 34. Paid off last of the mortgage ($298,544.14) with annual bonus (I photocopied the wire order and framed it for my desk). Debt free as of a month ago!
