So I went shopping for three items and returned home empty handed and annoyed.
1. Mint green ballet flats. The only kind I was able to find are miz mooz flats. My true size 9 is ginormous, 8.5 is way too small. What's up with that?? 2. Simple nude t shirt bra. Got measured at the store for 34b but was spilling consistently from every b cup the sales lady brought to me. What the point of measuring me then? 3. Running shoes. I just don't understand the assumption that if I'm a woman I like pink, purple, glitter etc. Arrgh I hate those colors. Please vent with me. |

Yes, very frustrating. I shop online where I can return for free. |
| Shopping has become an awful chore for me, for many of the reasons you stated . If I find shoes I like , the store doesn't have my size or they just don't fit properly. Same with clothing and especially bras. |
| And what's with the jeans sizes? My size is large, next size down is small or my size is tight the next size up is falling off.... |
|
I can't find "long" pants in stores, only online. But I'm between sizes and won't know which one fits until I try it on.
Also, I know it's been vented about before but it's my pet peeve - why are lined pants for work so darn difficult to find? Last, OP, my New Balance running shoes are neither pink, nor purple, nor sparkly (orange, blue and white) - maybe check out their web site? Can't help with the other issues listed as I sympathize with everyone else's vents too |
| I don't get the running shoe thing. There are tons in normal colors out there. |
| Just curios, OP, where did you get measured? I went to Nordstrom recently to get measured for bras after having a great experience there. The lady I had this time insisted I was a 34C but I was getting armpit boob and spilling out of the bras. She insisted they fit and that "some bras just do that." |
| Yep, i hate feeling like I have to settle when I am shopping. Just because I needed something & want the torture of shopping to end. I once had a glorious shopping trip in NYC. Never experienced that shopping euphoria again. |
Maidenform store. Always liked the brand, not anymore

I went shoe shopping which is always a frustrating experience because I am a size 5, but this time was horrible. Nordstrom had nothing in my size. I was looking for flat sandals. I handed the salesperson a couple of pairs of flat sandals that I wanted to try. The salesperson returned with a bunch of high heels telling me that these were the only shoes they had in my size.
I ended up ordering 17 pairs of shoes from Zappos so that I could try on some shoes. I've found 2 pairs and returned the rest. I hate doing that but I had no choice. |
| Re: bras, I recently went to a lingerie store and was told that each brand varies so much with respect to size that this store in particular does not bother measuring. You have to try on until you find the right size. (They will look at different areas to show you why/why it doesn't fit right. You almost shouldn't look at the size. I thought I had been a 34B for years and years and I was trying on 32Cs and 32Ds. |

Annoyed at poor quality clothing at premium prices. Also, why aren't stores organized by body type? Pear shapes, apples, large busts--just head to the section that fits your body. Wouldn't that be easier? I'd go straight to the section for hiding a belly and skip all the other things that don't work for me.
Also, shopping with young kids is awful. From now on, all kid purchases will be made online from etailers who have free returns. |
| Different bra brands will fit different even if the size is the same. Depends on things like how far apart the cups are, how much coverage on the side, etc. |
Naturalizer is probably the best place to find size 5 and smaller... |
