Delivered last year but still having urine leaking when I jump. Do I need to do Kegels? How many and how often?
How long will it take to resolve this? |
| Yes, you need to do kegels, and this far postpartum, I'd ask your OB for a referral to a PT who can help strengthen your pelvic floor. |
|
Oh no, you're LATE! You should have been doing kegels all through your pregnancy!
Start right now. Squeeze like you're stopping the flow of pee, and hold for five seconds. Then release. Do it again. I do it at every red light I hit while driving, plus each time while I'm washing my hands after using the bathroom. |
| You can do exercises while you are peeing. Stop and start your pee 10 times everytime you go pee. |
I read this was bad for you. |
| See a pelvic floor expert. Most women are actually hypertonic and do not need to do kegels with the exception of the immediate postpartum period. Kegels during pregnancy is not necessary. |
This is definitely bad for you. Keels should not be done while peeing. It is just a way to isolate the muscles if you've never done them before. |
