I feel like i had "minor" symptoms few days back (the sharp lower right abdomen pain when rolling over in bed)... sore boobs... but now, all the symptoms are gone two days later.... and I took an HPT this afternoon and it's negative. It was a pee strip (so not a top notch fancy one that says "pregnant or not pregnant".. but still. It was one of those earlypregnancy.com strips that claim to be super duper. It expired in 2012, too. But all that aside, I still think if it was positive, it would have shown even a faint line.
Is this testing too early? or do you think I coudl have seen at least something minor in the window by now? My day 5 transfer was last Tuesday afternoon. Seems like a lot of folks got a positive around this time. |
| Physical symptoms are pretty much a wash in the tww when you've gone through fertility treatments, because they can all pretty much be attributed to the meds you're taking. While it may seem that a lot of ladies get their positives this early (or even earlier), I would definitely take into consideration the fact that your test is now 2 years past its expiration date AND (if you were doing a normal cycle) you wouldn't have even missed your period yet. In my opinion, then, it's still too early to get a definitive answer. I would wait a day or two and use a more reliable test (from this year.) |
PP here - Also, to add on to my point above, try testing with your first urine of the day, since it will be the most concentrated. That way you don't have to worry about whether or not you possibly drank too much and diluted your urine. That could also negatively affect an accurate hpt reading. |
| I would wait until at least 11dp5dt. |
| I'm just so disappointed. I will test again a few days from now, but it stinks to get a negative. After all you go through to do IVF... then all for a negative. I transfered one embryo (donor cycle) and now I'm wishing I woudl have done both. I have one frozen. But at this time, this one embryo looked good and many clnics now realy want you to try just one if you have a good one. I will get a more expensive newer test, but I am disappointed. |
| Sadly, I suspect a negative as well based on what you wrote. Fingers crossed for a late implanter or, if nothing else, better luck with the next cycle. |
|
I'm sorry, OP.
Although I do find it odd that someone who has been around the TTC block (IVF, donor cycle) would use a cheap, expired test in the afternoon. Get yourself a FRER and test with FMU. |

I wasn't going to test at all..... I just found this old test in my suitcase pocket (unpacking today) and figured i would give it a whirl. Believe me, I know that the "best" idea is morning urine and an unexpired test.. but I also know that usually meds stay good for a lot longer than they say and a faint positive woudl be possible today.
However, I did buy some real tests and will test in morning. I did read on NYU fertility center site that it is 9 days after 5 day transfer when there is enough HCG in system. However, you can read on here that people get positives earlier. I'm kicking myself I transfered one (donor egg so they insisted 1 was best plan).. I knew I shoudl have done two, but at 43, I felt like twins might have some greater risks and they said transfering more only slightly increases your success rate for a "baby"... oh well, I'm borrowing trouble, although my gut says the expired test is good enough to tell me yeah or ney. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I'm also concerned I have no breast tenderness anymore or cramping... but then, could be that the first days of progesterone give you that.. then your body gets used to it. Sounds like I'm convincing myself.. and I hate it when people do that. It's like making excuses when a guy doesn't call.... gotta face it.. he's just not that into you. And i think in this case, it's just not a positive! |
Hang in there, OP. And please update us tomorrow. I will be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed. |
+1 |
| I used a cheapo test like that (and mine wasn't expired) and it gave me a false negative. So I'd use a couple different brands in a couple days. |
| I didn't get a positive on a FRER with FMU until 9dp5dt. 33w now. |
| That's good to know, that positive may not happen until 9dp5dt. I'm @ 9 days today. I will use a frer tomorrow morning. |
| Hugs to you, OP. Have you ever had an earlyish positive test before? Some women do not pee the hormone out fast enough to trigger tests until later. |
| Is it possible to get a false negative 7 days past my 3 days transfer. Used a pretty reliable FR tester in the evening. I haven’t felt anything since 5 dpt; I’m afraid to test again. |
