| Seeking recommendations for great tennis coach for preschool age child. Thanks in advance. |

As a former tennis pro, I say your preschooler does not need paid lessons. They can barely hold a racquet without it hurting their wrist after a very short time. Just take them somewhere (even your yard is fine) and toss balls to them and encourage them to swing at the ball, and teach them how to follow through on each swing. 10-15 at a shot.
I wouldn't do lessons before 5 or 6 to be honest. |
+1 from another former junior/college player/tennis instructor. Even now that the USTA is advocating the half-court nets, smaller rackets, etc., pre-school is still too young for anything but building up hand-eye coordination. Use a ping pong paddle or something else light and fun and toss nerf balls for 10-15 minutes at most. When they connect with the ball and manage to hit you with it, make huge funny production out of it so they start trying to aim at you. Use balloons and kid-size rackets to work on hitting the balloon or just walking/running with the balloon balanced on the racket. You get the idea. But just too young for actual paid lessons. |
