Fortunately, I'm just asking out of curiosity and not actual interest.
I've lived in NOVA for 16 years and in my current town for nearly 10. Now I know that if I had wanted my kids to belong to a pool, I needed to get on a waitlist when I got married. Suppose my kids suddenly decided they wanted to be on a swim team. What would be my options? Are there any swim teams that don't require memberships in a pool? The whole concept of "belonging to a pool" to be on a swim team is so foreign to me. The town in which I grew up (a college town at which the college has a very good Division I swimming program) runs a summer swim team out of a public pool that cost $55. That's it. |

Move to Burke or West Springfield.
Pools in every neighborhood. Minimal wait lists. Lots of swim and dive team options, even for older novices. Everything from recreational teams to exceptionally competitive teams. Plenty of year round indoor options too. |
| The NVSL requires that swimmers either be members or leaseholders of the pool for which they swim. There are some pools that don't have residency requirements and also don't have wait lists. You would need to join/lease from one of those if you kid wanted to swim. |
| Depends on where you live. There are pools all over NOVA that don't have long waitlists and others that have waitlists 5-10 years long. There are indoor year round swim team options too. |
