Sidwell Pre-K Feeders

What pre-schools are considered feeders into Sidwell's Pre-K?

There are no school-specific feeders per se. (Are you an ex-New Yorker?) But NCRC, Little Folks, and St John's all have strong exmissions.

I heard School for Friends as well since they are also a Quaker school. They have strong exmissions.

I wondered the same thing; op sounds like a new yorker.

There isn't a quota system here with true feeder preschools. and Sidwell above all is going to accept who it wants to accept, with no connected PSDs brokering kids.

I don't think that is true, I don't think they send any more kids than any other "non-feeder" pre-school.

Says bitter parent whose child was not accepted there. Which is no surprise since the parent doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're".

I've heard there are some great in-home daycares that are Sidwell feeders. Perhaps you should look into some in your neighborhood.

Not true on the Aidan..we NEVER applied but my lovely child is now at Sidwell and we are hoping our second will be there in September. So even though the parents may not be college educated, we still want the best for our children. You people who come on this board are truly PATHETIC, checking to see what is a "feeder" school and why their lovely child was not accepted even though they think their child is a genius. I actually came on here to help those people who really are nice and not big snobs. I thought maybe I could give some insight since as the PP stated I am not educated (also not rich --just hard working). I wanted normal people to know that your child can get into Sidwell and any other school as it is not based at all on what the parents do or who they are but how smart and sweet their child is. Unfortunately, what I've encountered on here is the typcial DC snobbery (if a word) which THANKFULLY I have never encountered at Sidwell. Did you ever think that if you stop obsessing over what "feeder" school is best and how rich and important you are that maybe things will work out. I guess the Admissions people can read right through it. I gave the "Aidan no way a feeder" because I know of not one child who came from that daycare/pre-school and again the parents I've come across on this board that have kids there are snobs. That is my problem with Aidan because actually I have NO clue where the school is located nor do I know of any child that attends or atttended that daycare/pre-school. I live in Captiol Hill by the way.

You make yourself out to be a victim when you initiated the negative tone.

Sorry I didn't mean to be so negative. I just have a big problem with all the snobs and I've noticed (through this board) that alot of them have children that go to Aidan. Not to say some of the parents at my DC school aren't (Sidwell) snobs its just that they have never acted that ways towards our family and its PRETTY clear that we have not money. You also don't see them talking trash on this board. I wanted to make it clear that the parents are fooling themselves if they really think any school is a feeder to ANY of the Pre-K's or K's. It doesn't work like that at all.

Follow up question - how hard is it to get into NCRC, Little Folks, and St John's? Any "feeders" into them?

You may want to look into the playgroups in DC, Intown, Blue Igloo & Little Graces for one & two year olds. Seems to make a difference when applying to preschool.
