I’m not sure it’s a troll account. I’m an APS teacher and there is an APS teacher Facebook page where you need to verify your work email to join. She’s on there. However when I search for her email through my work database she does not show up under any combo of her Facebook name. So..... not sure who she is or where she works in APS. |
Whoops pressed send too soon. I’m the teacher above. I often shudder at how harsh/caustic she is. I am not surprised if she is using an alternate name because I can’t imagine being so outspoken as a representative of your employer. So weird. |
When will the results of the caucus be announced? |
I don't know if we are in the same group but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has done this (I searched in teams) I don't know who SJH is, I've done it with another suspected troll. |
Depends on how many in-person votes there are. |
That whole AEM group - I was surprised how crazy people act on there and surprised that the admin does nothing to make it better |
I don’t think that’s the moderator’s job. If people want to make asses of themselves, on whichever side of an issue, the moderator should let them. I think they do the best they can or what can/should be expected of them. |
The AEM mod once kicked someone that was being very obnoxious on the premise that someone said they lived in falls church. It was true they lived in falls church but they straddled the county line and paid taxes in both but went to APS. Based on the precedent, you'd think the Moderator could kick out the troll based on not even being a real person, let alone any tie to APS! |
It’s over, now pay attention to your kids! |
It appeared to be a sham anyway. A very vocal Republican was talking about voting in NextDoor. She was vocal about going to Jan 6th events and publicly opposed the protections for transgender students. She was also voting in the caucus to determine who the ACDC should support. Uh.......... |
WHAT!? People don't respect a suppressive, gross, loyalty oath!? I hope this spotlight raises awareness of these very undemocratic process and the Arl Dems reexamine how they conduct the caucus. It should be more similar to how primaries are conducted....open and happening concurrently with the primary. Until then, I encourage everyone to protest the caucus BY ENCOURAGING EVERYONE to participate, not sitting it out. |
It's a private FB page with no official affiliation to APS. Similar to DCUM, the moderator owns it so it's her rules. She could kick you or me out tomorrow if she chose, for no reason whatsoever. Unfortunately it's became very influential even though it represents a relatively small group of well-off Arlington parents. |
It’s always been BS. It’s just that before you had to care enough to show up in person for one of the two in person time slots to participate. Oh, you can’t make it to Key School on Thursday between 7 and 9 or WL on Saturday from 11-7? That’s just too bad. So sorry. |
Fascinating...and horrifying. I mean, as a parent, I want to know who she/he is so that I can be sure that my children are never under that person's supervision or instruction. And I don't think that's entirely unreasonable given their engagement and demeanor. |
I still want to hear everyone's guess on how many people voted. I guessed 10,000 up-thread, but now I am thinking it was likely lower. Maybe 8,000. That would still be more than double any previous caucus.
Arlington doesn't have many Republicans to begin with, but I can't see that 1000s of them actually came out to vote in this thing. Anyone else have a guess? |
