What are the list of MCPS positions set to be laid off (assuming the budget cuts go through)?

Teachers that are untenured can and are cut for free. They even try to sabotage teachers unemployment benefits by telling no truths to dllr.

That’s just what I’d expect from MCPS.

That would save a ton of money in salary.
a similar question was asked in the last board meeting; so the question was does the person who is being bought out have to be eligible for retirement or or could they offer this incentive to any employee and the response was that that they’re only allowed to offer this to people who are are eligible for retirement. That a restriction is placed on MCPS by the state something to do with the pension system. Too bad because I think many teachers with less than 3 years would take the 10 grand and never look back.

Yes, it is interesting that they added about 1500 positions between FY20 and FY25 while enrollment went down from 164,129 in FY20 to 161,580 in FY25.

It makes no sense last year they added positions and now they are cutting them.

Tenure is bs to begin with in Maryland. I taught for 15 years-left for one because my husband got transferred abroad. I resigned at the end of the school year-got rehired at the beginning of the school year when we got back. I was over the year mark by 2 months and had to start all over again. The whole system is a joke.

We don’t know yet. But the cuts happening this year are only a fraction of what’s to come for 2028.

Pretty much the 80% of central, tech payouts, and admin could be cut and teachers lives would actually improve stress wise -if we only had power, protection, support and autonomy
