Driving EOTP?

Anonymous
Considering driving from upper NW to NE to attend a charter school. Drive would be from NW to NE and then to work near Dupont back to NE for pick up and finally back to upper NW at least initially until relocating closer to school. Have not had a car in DC until recently so don't know if this is going to be a traffic nightmare or not leaving home around 7:45 am and then Dupont around 5:15 pm. Any advice much appreciated!

What school is it? Hard to answer without knowing.

NE is a big place. How could we possibly know what the hell you are talking about?

Check with your child's school to see if there is a carpool. Several carpools or buses from NW to NE.

As the previous responder have indicated, the routes you would use vary substantially by specific locations in NW and NE. Suggest you use Google Maps to estimate travel times. If you do this at the specific times of day you would plan to travel in the future, then you should also receive and estimate that accounts for traffic.

It is doable but sounds stressful to me. Carpool optiion may be best.

Good luck!

School is Stokes in Brookland. Traveling from near Glover Park.

Your problem is going to be NE to Dupont in the am and the entire evening loop could be very bad.

Go down Connecticut and go over the bridge passing Calvert Street to enter into DuPont Circle.

I'm bad with street names, but know how to get around. If you're coming from Glover Park, enter into Rock Creek park by the Exxon gas Station and take one of those streets that leads you to Washington Hospital Center. Columbia Road I think it is? Then you will make a left on Michigan Ave.

Brook lander here. Rhode Island west to downtown is most likely how you would get there by car but it is horrible. Consider parking car at at Rhode Island station and Metroing. But know this will be a huge time suck. I would guess 1.5 hours in Am and the same in Pm, all told.

We live in NE and our school is in Ne. Work not too far from you and it takes me close to an hour including dropoff and pickup. Without school, it's about 30 min door to door. And school is convenient.
