Casual lunch in Old Town?

Anonymous
I'm having lunch with a professor from college who is in DC for a conference this week on Saturday in Old Town Alexandria. I'm having a hard time coming up with a casual place we can get some sandwiches or other light lunch, not *too* expensive (>$15/meal because I know he will *insist* on paying - I did research with this prof) and with decent indoor seating.

I drive through Old Town twice a day on my way to and from work and go often for dinner but am blanking here. Help!

OP here. I used the wrong < symbol I mean *less than* ~$15/meal..

OP again. I should add that the only cuisines I am averse to are seafood and Indian. I checked out Majestic, but it looks like they have a fairly limited lunch menu and were on the more upscale/slightly getting pricier side. I might be wrong though, never been.

Overwood is reasonably priced and has decent food (American, I'd call it). I don't know if it has outdoor seating, though.
Virtue Food & Grain has outdoor seating but I haven't been there since it changed owners.
The Greek place on King Street (Taverna Cretekou?) has a courtyard out back with hanging plants, etc., so outdoor seating away from the hustle and bustle of King Street

Oh, sorry, for some reason I thought you said decent outdoor seating. Oops. Try Overwood.

Overwood sounds perfect, I just looked up their menu and wow, those prices are amazing! I hope the food is just as good. Thanks, PP and others for the quick suggestions!!

Austin grill has a great lunch/brunch. Otherwise majestic or Fontaine caffe & creperie. Food at over wood seems to have gone downhill

I vote for Fonatine

I wouldn't take a professor to Murphy's. It's more bar than restaurant. And you have to know he likes ethnic food for some of the other choices. I recommended Overwood but just to give you another option, Columbia Firehouse also has that type of fare (American), is more toward the heart of Old Town (will parking be an issue?) and has good indoor seating. I recommend sitting in the side room/atrium, which has good light.
