What do you hang on your walls?

What do you hang on your walls? I have SOOOO many friends that have bare walls either because they don't know what to hang, or they're afraid they'll "do it wrong".
So what's in your house? Family photos everywhere? Gallery walls? Kids artwork? Nothing at all?

I have a bunch of original artwork but haven't hung most of it yet because I haven't decided if we are going to repaint.

We have a mix of original artwork and limited edition prints that we've collected over the years. We have one gallery wall of old photos from both sides of the family.

Paintings. Photography. All large-scale in my house.

I'm not especially highbrow, so you won't find any fancy or expensive art on my walls. It's mostly retro cocktail art, Italian movie posters and some photos. It's a mix. You just gotta dive in and figure out what you like and move it around or get rid of it if need be.

We collected stuff for years before getting around to framing and hanging. We have:

Den - a few banksy prints on wood and a painting by my kid sister

Living/Dining - A painting of the cliffs and ocean I bought from a local artist in American Samoa, our wedding vows (signed by all of our guests), this map of dc neighborhoods http://orkposters.com/dc.html , a framed colin winterbottom photo (one of these http://www.colinwinterbottom.com/gallery.php?gallery=3), a framed painting by a local artist from South Amerca and a map we paint ourselves to indicate the states we have visited (we have a goal of all 50 and are almost there).

Entryway - a few small painted cards in frames from local artists in Taos

We like collecting local art when we travel or live abroad!

Bedroom - a few of our wedding photos

The heads of my enemies.

I think this is sort of a crazy question. I have a lot of prints, some mirrors and Various art I liked for the colors. My house is well decorated and I've had help decorating it.

No, no, no PP! You hang the heads of your enemies on the pikes lining the roads to your castles.

I like art and photography by local artists. So my living room has watercolors of local architecture, one bedroom has watercolors of Capitol hill rowhouses, another bedroom has pastels of paris landmarks (bought on a visit there), a third bedroom has color photos a local guy took in rock creek park (where I often run) and my family room has black-and-white photos by a local photographer, taken on his travels. I also have a neat window frame salvaged from a house that has multicolored stained-glass panes - it reminds me of a Mondrian painting.

Exactly. Animal heads preferably of endangered species go on the walls on the inside.

Just a suggestion but OP did you think about going to Eastern Market to get anything for your walls? We have an amazing oil painting and a pallet painting of the DC flag in our house. We love it and its great to support local artists.

Whatever the hell I want. I live there and I don't care about impressing anybody else. But we have original artwork, antique maps and prints (more my husband's interest), and large photos we have taken while traveling.
