| Our house has 2 sets of French doors that don't have any kind of blinds or curtains. I'm thinking about covering them in some way to give some privacy, but I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for any recommendations! |

I'd suggest shades from a curtain rod mounted on the door. My current house has metal exterior doors so I use a magnetic rod and roman shades. My last house had wooden doors so we installed small hooks at the top of each door and hung flat fabric panels from them (my mom made the panels: not a complicated sewing project).
Curtains mounted on a rod above the door can look nice in some spaces -- they don't work in my particular house. |
| What do the doors look out on? Privacy doesn't mean covering every single window. If someone is in your back yard, wouldn't you rather be able to see him? |
We didn't with the intention of swaping out the builder grade door in the future. If we had the option we would chose to match our plantation shutters. It would be like this

IMO, those are bulky and cover up the French doors too much. Not a good look, not to mention the cost! I'd go for a blind or roman shade, instead. That way, you can get the privacy when necessary, but enjoy the light and view when desired. |
