We are having a happy hour at our place for work. About 20 people from 6:30-9:00 perhaps. What food should I serve? I'm thinking either Ledos Pizza, or I could grill hamburgers.
Thoughts? |
| I should add that the venue won't be condusive to hanging around a table of appetizers and chips. The food will be inside, and everyone will generally be hanging out outside |
| I would not grill since you wont be able to socialize. I would also not do Ledo because I think their pizza sucks. I would do a platter from lebanese taverna or other middle eastern place--hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, etc. But that's me. |
Ha! Listen to this poster if you want "yuks" all around. I don't know anyone who doesn't inhale Ledo's pizza when it's in front of them. Go with that. |
| Ledo's pizza is a grease fest. I can't imagine having to carry it around, unless it's a naked party so I can wash off the inevitable dribbles. |
| I love Ledos. But the older I get the less it loves me. And as I get older I've gotten smarter. Most of the time I know remember that I will pay for eating Ledos. |
I would MUCH rather eat middle Eastern, esp from Lebanese Taverna, than any pizza. |
| Make a couple giant muffaletta sandwiches and cut them into slices. You could do regular and vegetarian versions. |
| Taco bar. You can prep everything ahead of time and just heat up the meat and beans. |
| Trader Joe's for snack-type foods. Hummus, chips, guac, cheese, crackers. Fridays are tough because you don't have time to prep. You could even get some frozen apps if you have time to bake them. Keep it simple and you will be glad you did. |

minced BBQ & little rolls.
meatballs in a crockpot before you leave for work. fruit kabobs veggie platter |

If everyone is going to be hanging out outside (near the grill), I think hamburgers would be perfect. Maybe add some corn on the cob (on the grill). Make a fruit and/or veggie platter and some chips/dip and I think you are set.
Lebanese Taverna or something would be great, but for 20 people it would get pricey, if that is a concern. |
| I would grill some kebabs, make a nice tabouleh, and some hummus. |
|
Can you smoke a bunch of wings on your grill? Everyone loves smoked wings.
Also, nothing wrong with a big cheese/crackers/fruit board. I'd try not to make people choose between food inside and socializing outside. Can't you set up a table outside to put the food on? With a big cooler for drinks? |

I love Ledo, but I realize this is a divisive topic.
