Any opinions/experiences with both the school and program?
Wondering why greatschools.com and schooldigger.com both gave less than glowing reviews of the school...

It's just test scores and the fact that, until recently, the AAP kids from Shrevewood went to Haycock.

I guess that explains it. Thanks. Personally, I think's it's a great school with a great learning environment.

Meant to type "I think" NOT "I think's"

Shrevewood AAP is not for everyone. It's a small class. the teacher is not nice to everyone, though.

Why did Shrevewood's test scores take a serious dive last year? I'm a parent there and have heard virtually nothing about it. Why aren't people revolting? I like the "new" principal but am starting to have my doubts.

Also why is the AAP class so small? That seems kind of unfair to the other kids in that grade who have much larger classes?

Not sure either. This is their second year offering LLIV services -- do we still attribute the low scores to "bright flight"?

This is the first year Shrevewood has had LLIV. And the class size is so small because the principal promised that so that people would stay instead of go to the center. I don't think that will fly in future years. Seems to be unfair use of resources in times of budgetary constraints.

Any information on current program? The AAP teachers?

+1 reading through various threads no one gave any information regarding the LLIV and Center (Lemon Road). All every seemed to care about was the Haycock drama. BTW -- is Lemon Road's program that bad to cause such a viscerally negative reaction to the possibility of one's DC attending that program?

I know people in both. Both groups seem happy. The Shrevewood class is very small, so that's a plus.

Good school, LLIV is ramping up in the school and the Principal is committed to LLIV.

The jig will be up soon

As far as implementation does that school's LLIV differ from Center-based offerings? I guess that's a roundabout way of asking what the objectives are for each program.thanks for weighing in!

We have had a good experience with LLIV at Shrevewood so far. Shrevewood is a good community school; with a large diverse population. I have checked out our center school, Lemon Road, and have spoken to the parents who have kids at LR, my child is not doing anything any different from the kids at the Center School.

The principal is very open to speaking with parents about the school as is the Assistant Principal, give them a call to discuss.
