Do high end kitchen appliances last longer

What is everyone's experience?

If you built a dream kitchen would you get the wolf, viking , thermadore etc...

My parents have had far more trouble (multiple pricey repairs) with their Miele dishwasher and KitchenAid walls ovens (each just under 10 years old) than I have with my GE dishwasher (a midrange model) and HotChef range/oven, both of which are at least 15 years old and have never needed repair.

I renovated my kitchen about 4 years ago and put in high-end appliances. I will be honest that my husband was very skeptical about whether we needed to spend so much money. I had more faith that it was the right decision, but still worried because it added so much to the final total cost. However, I really do love them and haven't had any issues with any of them except the dishwasher and those issues aren't huge. I have a 6-burner Thermador cooktop with griddle, wall ovens and dishwasher and a Sub Zero refrigerator. I absolutely love the Sub Zero and would highly recommend it! Ditto for the cooktop and wall ovens. I can't say I love the dishwasher because it hasn't been washing my dishes as well lately and, also it does not dry any plastic items very well. It is also a Thermador, but it was actually made by Bosche.

I don't know that I can answer your original question about the appliances lasting longer, but I would imagine that they do. They are certainly built better and have a higher quality than regular appliances. It's worth considering!

Sorry, HotPoint, not HotChef. Must have Mad Men/Burger Chef on the brain.
