How long can you try Femara?

Anonymous
I know there is a recommended limit on Clomid, but how long can you take Femara? We tried 3 rounds and 5 doses of Clomid unsuccessfully (ovulated but resistant) in Sept-Dec 2013.

We conceived on our first month of 7.5mg Femara (+ Ovidrel, TI), but suffered a MMC at 8+1. Took a month off, and had to take Provera (anovulatory) to induce a bleed. My RE wanted me to refresh the uterine lining before trying again. Mid-April we tried our 2nd round of 7.5mg Femara, BFN. I'm now 4dpo on our third round of 7.5mg Femara. My follicle was 27mm on the morning I triggered. Bloodwork came back to -with most certainty- confirm it was not a cyst.

We aren't ready to move on to iui yet as our insurance won't cover ART. My RE said there was no real reason to move to FSH because I am responding so well to the Femara. If we move to IUI (I'm trying to lose some weight before we pay oop for that) I would like to go into it with more than one follicle. I've been producing great mono-follicular results on the Femara-- 21mm, 23mm,and now 27mm.

FWIW, I have IR PCOS, and ovulation dysfunction. I take 1500mg of metformin daily, along with a balanced organic prenatal. As of 3dpo (yesterday) I started applying natural progesterone cream. I have issues with low progesterone and am trying to do anything on my own to assist my levels at this point. My progesterone won't get checked until Friday (7dpo) at which point I will supplement if it is below 8.5 as per my clinic's instructions, with Prometruim suppositories.

I've never seen anything that indicates it could cause a problem. It's pretty mild as fertility meds go.
