Who's responsible for getting carpet cleaned?

I want to have the carpet cleaned in my rental property. The tenants really haven't done anything to it, other than get it dirty. Can I require that they get the carpet cleaned, or do I just do it?

What does your lease say?

Sometimes our lease says it is our responsibility.

Other times, it says nothing so the landlord takes care of it.

How long have they lived there? How old is the carpet?

It might be normal wear and tear. It might be time for you to replace it.

We ripped out carpet. Much better for rentals.
