I love watching shows about buying/selling real estate. Don't know why. I just love looking at the beautiful homes shown and seeing the ins and outs of the real estate biz.
I like Million Dollar Listing $$ because it shows the shrewdness of the realtors and what they have to do to get the sale. I am amazed at the commissions they make from just one listing though! Wow...Makes me want to be a realtor someday. I love to watch House Hunters too just to play along and guess what house will be chosen at the end. But one has to wonder...For such an important decision as purchasing a home, don't most folks look at more than say, three houses before making a decision?! Am I being played?? Lol.

Yes, you are bring majorly played!
I love House Hunters, too. For the other show, while I love seeing the properties and esp the shots of NYC, the "realtors" are such tools it's hard for me to watch. |

Both shows are orchestrated and acted. The people on HH have already bought a home and they are just shown 2 more - sometimes their friends homes.
But that Million Dollar listing show - I can't stand the men on it - at least the NY one- they are so fake and annoying and greedy. At least with Selling NY, the agents have some class and professionalism while they make their millions and hide their greed. |

On House Hunters, if people know they are being played, how come that damn show is so freakin' popular then??! I mean, it seems every time I turn on the T.V. there is always a brand-new episode on!! I really like HH International because they show other countries that I may never ever get to see in person and how the homes there look.
Million Dollar Listing is addicting because yes, the three guys are jerks/douchebags/tools, etc., but it's like watching a horrible trainwreck, I simply cannot turn my eyes away from it...Not for a sec. The listings are to die for, the negotiations are cutthroat and the egos are as huge as the price tags of the properties listed. Bravo to Bravo for another hit show!!!!!!

Which one is Ryan??
Not the Ricky Ricardo guy??!! |
No, the tall American. |
Great link!
Just like any reality show, I think as a viewer, I know instinctively that the show is indeed scripted or at least exaggerated tenfold to make good television, but for entertainment purposes I still watch. I mean...c'mon. People know WWE wresting is totallyfake, yet they still tune in and watch. Right??! We are all suckers in this world. People just like to be entertained. At whatever cost. |
