What are the most liquid gold coins today?

Anonymous
Ages ago I bought and sold a few South African Krugerrands. It was pretty easy using registered mail.

What are today's 1-ounce and fractional-ounce gold coins, for which there is an active market? Any local dealers I should see to buy some? A bank?

Just a few thousand dollars worth.

I think any, so long as a dealer recognizes it as being gold. I sold Krugerrands @ two years ago to meet a tuition need. Very easy. I just went to a coin store in Vienna and they gave me that hour's bullion rate. There's a coin store (or used to be) in Bethesda, too.

Coin of the Realm, I'm hoping to make a trip there myself this weekend.

Are you buying or selling. If you had a large collection of double eagle silver dollars and had no idea of their worth, and wanted to sell them, where would you go in the hopes of not getting ripped off?

Just go to Kitco.com Silver dollars are worth a few bucks over the silver bullion spot price the day you sell.

Those that trade closest to gold's spot price are the most liquid. The higher the numismatic premium from there, the less liquid the market. Krugerrands are always welcome!
