Running my first 10 tomorrow; physically I think i'm ready for the run, but this pollen is making me nervous! I'm so congested and itchy, even without spending an hour running outside! My normal meds don't seem to be cutting it. Every spring there are a few days I"m simply miserable & it seems like I"ve hit that time
How do I deal with it? My running shorts don't have pockets, the idea of snotty tissues tucked into my waste band seems nasty Help! I don't want all my training to be ruined by this! |

Have you ever run with a belt around your waist? I know some people like Spi belts, or fuel belts...my favorite is fitletic
http://www.fitletic.com/ultimate-ii-running-belt.html If your race has a large expo with vendor booths, they will likely be there. Or if you typically run with your Ipod in one of those arm bands, you could keep some tissues in there? Even if it means there's no room for the ipod/phone--just use the arm band purely for holding tissues. I'm sorry your allergies are bothering you.
Good Luck in your race!

That looks great, would hold a lot of tissues! Any place I could get one today locally? I'm in MoCo |
Unfortunately, I've never seen that brand in stores--only online and at expos. I see that Holabird sports carries them, and they do have a showroom outside of Baltimore, but it appears they are closed on Sundays.
If you go to other running stores/sporting good stores, you might find something similar. Belts like those come in handy if you race a lot--allows you to carry things like gels, your phone, cash/id, etc. I really love that fitletic one in particular, but different people with different body types/different needs might like other belts better.

| How did the race go? Anyone have any tips on training for a 10K? I have run a 5K and typically go running for 30 minutes 3X a week but would love the challenge of a 10K. |
