Only in the true Academy teams, not in P2P clubs. ECNL leadership is very firm on not letting biobanding slip in. |
Getting pigeonholed into mlsn2 would suck for kids that don’t play HS. Games are in the winter too. |
Yeah. Most MLSN1 clubs get tons of kids from ECNL too. That will also be more problematic if they don't switch to SY. You'll basically have two pipelines developing and switching out of one or the other will not be easy. At my kids MLSN1 team (u16) there are exactly 2 players on the team who started with the club. Most of the players arrived after U12 from ECNL, NPL and other MLSN clubs... |
This makes too much sense so I doubt it will happen lol! I actually expect them to say they aren't changing anything*. *Biobands will now be allowed strictly on an age basis so that Q4s can play 'down'. |
So BY+SY, with the age range being 17 months on a given team? Great idea, that won’t be problematic at all. |
There will be problems no matter what they do. |
Not if they move to SY with everyone else. |
Well, according to posters here mlsn is the best and can do whatever they want. |
I mean sure, they should (I have an MLSN player) but they seem to like to do their own thing (even if their own thing already exists and they just call it something else). So making up complicated bioband rules and throwing SY into the bioband mix seems like something they would do. I mean, I can see them being almost completely SY but refusing to call it that. |
That is no difference from Biobands on the team now. There is a bioband on my kids team who has a mustache and drives himself to practice. It is a U15 team. |
OR, posters say they don't know what they are doing and it's all about to fall apart and/or ECNL is great. Seems to me both sides have a few good points but just can't admit it to each other. |
Are there only early and late developers in academy teams but not in P2P? |
|
BY or SY or GY my kid is still going to ride the bench and can't use both feet
I'm smart enough to know age cutoff isn't her problem |
Instead of biobanding ECNL uses the term "u18/u19" also many of the parents on this thread think ECNL will use "GY at Showcases". Apparently playing down is good when we do it. But everyone else is a cheater. This is how GY sneaks into youth sports. Generally some sob story edge case is used as the justification. Once implemented real players exploit the rule and sob story edge case never sees the field. |
Theres snowplow parents who honestly believe the development can turn any kid into the next superstar. As you've identified some people are just more naturally talented than others. You cant teach height or speed theres some things you can do to enhance natural attributes which is why players practice. This is the problem with the RAE acolytes they completely discount natural ability. |
