Anyone ever had OHSS?

Just had my transfer on Saturday for IVF...feeling full & bloated & having some pain...didn't know if this was a sign of OHSS (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome)...Any experiences?

Yes. I had OHSS badly. As I recall, it was a function of having waaaay too much progesterone being given off by having waaay too many follicles -- I think I had over 20 eggs retrieved (this was some time ago before procedures became perfected and "coasting" became the norm to prevent this). If you just had your transfer yesterday, I think it is too early for you to be feeling any OHSS effects, but I would keep an eye out. FYI, if you do became pregnant inside of the 2ww, that will only mean more progesterone will be given off and raise your chances for OHSS. I think it was about 9 days after transfer that I was hospitalized w/OHSS and they did a beta then that showed I was pregnant. Good luck to you.

I also just had ET on Saturday and started experiencing OHSS the day after my trigger shot. I also had this with my IUI. I had moderate OHSS with the IUI's and resolved when I didn't get preg. I showed them my abdomen I went in for my ET and the nurse said I should be monitored closely. I had 5 eggs retrieved and weigh about 105lbs with a BMI of 18 which they said is probably contributing to this. They recommend eating small frequent meals of protein and drink lots of gatorade. Watch your urine if it reduces or gets very concentrated or you become nauseaous, call them. I think as we inject progesterone every night it only makes it worse. I feel very uncomfortable, bloated like I am 7-8 month preg, the skin on my abdomen is so tight and gassy but constipated. It will be worth it if we're able to have a healthy child. My poor bottom is so sore, lumpy and achy. Best of luck.

oops meant had 15 mature eggs retreived, which they said is a lot for someone my size, indicating my ovaries were very stimulated.

Yes! I had 21 eggs retreived, 18 were mature, 17 fertilized. I was 37.5 My estrogn was over 6,000 at the time of ER. I had it so bad that I couldn't even stand up straight! Every time I ate the smallest thing, I felt so full!! I already looked 15 months pregnant! My RE continued with my ET five days later. After I got pregnant my OHSS continiued until I was 10 weeks pregnant. I had overies
the size of tennis balls with lots of fluid in them. I had to get them drained which was a big relief! All the pain and agony was worth it in the end.

PP- I am 5ft4 and weighed 103lbs. I think thinner women are more prone to OHSS.

PP 19:44 here. Yes, they told me a lot of this is b/c of our small size and how much our ovaries produced from the overstimulation. I just went in today b/c my urine was becoming concentated and b/c of the swelling. I totally agree 2 bites and you're full. Constant nausea and heartburn. They did u/s and ohss bloodwork. I'm suppose to go back in wed and if not better but worse then plan to goto rockville for drainage. The RE said i's under iv sedation and you need someone to drive you. Does that mean I have to call in sick from work again?

PP 19:44 here: had to go in yesterday to have 2 liters of fluid aspirated, felt so much better afterwards but afraid it amy be filling up again. At least I can breathe for now and finally got a good night's sleep. My abdomen was so distended that my belly button was starting to flatten out, I wouldn't breathe and I was so nauseous. They said it was getting worse b/c I'm pregnant! Yeah, the BFP confirmed it. I now have to go in every other day for monitoring on an empty stomach incase I need drainage.
