Childbirth class at VHC

Anonymous
Hello,

I am delivering at VHC and plan to sign up for their childbirth class. They have a 6-week version and a 1-day version. Can anyone provide feedback on either class and if you felt that taking the class in general was useful/helpful?

Thanks!

I took the 6-wk version and would recommend it - as a first-time mom, it was nice to space things out so we wouldn't get overwhelmed! The classes cover relaxation techniques/breathing (but not specifically Lamaze), signs of pre-term labor, phases of labor, hospital procedures, vaginal and cesarean births, bathing and breastfeeding - plus you'll watch videos one week and take a tour of the l&d floor.

I'll admit, some of the info some weeks was pretty basic if like me you read a lot, but I still found it reassuring to take it in bite-size pieces. The nurses teaching it answered all the group's questions, so it was nice to hear what other people were thinking of. The handouts were helpful - I still refer to some of the materials (my son is a month old).
