Driving myself crazy waiting for IVF results, welcome advice...
-Did you Pee on a Stick (POAS)? When can you accurately?... -Did you do some special fertilization diet/ritual/raindance to make it successful?
-Did you take it easy ? (avoiding lifting/working, etc) -did you avoid other things (hot baths, sex, caffeine, prostitution, cocaine use ....)
-Did you have symptoms that were indicative of a pregnancy? (implantation bleeding/sore breasts, etc) What works? or is it just a crapshoot? thanks... |

Did you Pee on a Stick (POAS)? When can you accurately?...
No - except when I was in Germany when my results were to be ready (1 of 4 IVFs) -Did you do some special fertilization diet/ritual/raindance to make it successful? Tried to be as healthy as possible - but not too crazy with it - had ice cream or cake but otehrwise pretty healthy -Did you take it easy ? (avoiding lifting/working, etc) Yes, I did - I would walk and do light activity but kept pretty easy routine esp for the first few days post implant -did you avoid other things (hot baths, sex, caffeine, prostitution, cocaine use ....) only for teh first week.... -Did you have symptoms that were indicative of a pregnancy? (implantation bleeding/sore breasts, etc) No - and was pregnant 3/4 times IMO, most important thinkg is to be relaxed and positive the first few days post implant. I rented fav movies - DF sent s box with 'all things sticky' for good luck - gum, sticky notes, velcro ball game..... Good luck |
, I didn't do IVF but that is what I did after my IUI: 1 - Pee on a stick: you can pee on a stick 10 days after the TRIGGER (by then should be out of your system). Or you can pee everyday and when you don't see a line anymore, you know all positive result you get from that day on will really mean a pregnancy, and not the hormones from the shot. I got my first faint line 11 days pos IUI. 2- Did you take it easy? I didn't really pay attention to that - first IUI I was doing exercises and was also working - and I work as a nanny of very young children, so I was definitely not "taking it easy". Running around, lifting them, rolling on the floor, and having them jump on me....all the normal stuff. I didn't get pregnant that cycle but was because my husband's sample was pitiful - not even half of the minimum suggested. However, one of the children got sick during that time and the husband boss took a day off to stay with him, and mother boss didn't want me to interact with the sick child - I was not afraid of anything, but it was very thoughtful of them anyways
2nd IUI: the 2ww was over the holidays so I was off work. Also I didn't exercise because I was traveling, dealing with family, etc... It worked and I am pregnant! However, I don't think it was due to "taking it easy" because my husband's sample was MUCH better. It was great in fact. And now I am back to work doing all the normal stuff with the children and the "baby" is still there
3 - -Did you do some special fertilization diet/ritual/raindance to make it successful? Well, things I have done over the last months during the 2ww to increase odds of implantation: Eating LOTS of pineapple (apparently the core of a fresh pineapple is GREAT for that); drinking lots of fluid; acupuncture (I tell my doctor when I was in the 2ww and asked her to "do things" to increase blood flow in the uterus area). However, one thing different that I did this cycle was to take vitamin B6 (100mg) everyday.
4 - -did you avoid other things (hot baths, sex, caffeine, prostitution, cocaine use ....)
No, I didn't avoid anything that I don't usually avoid since I have been TTC, like cleaning the litter box for instance. My husband does that and if the cats throw up, I use disposable gloves and wash my hands thoroughly afterwards. That said, I drank my usual diet coke (lots of it), drank wine over the holidays, drank my daily cup of regular coffee, ate any cheese I wanted, etc. The day I tested positive I ditched all the caffeine and some of the things they say we should avoid. I also take warm (almost hot) showers - and since I got pregnant I have this "urge" to take 3, 4 showers a day!! But I don't of course. Oh, and during my 2ww I got a nasty cold and had Tylenol night time a couple of nights to be able to sleep. 5 - Did you have symptoms that were indicative of a pregnancy? (implantation bleeding/sore breasts, etc) That cold I got during the 2ww was VERY strange. I didn't have any symptoms at all during the day (felt great), only during the night. I would wake up coughing and with insomnia, and my nose/throat would feel so dry that I even put a bucket filled with water by my bedside and told my husband if didn't improve soon we would have to by a humidifier! My breasts were tender too, but they always are before my period. Now they are SUPER tender. Good luck op, I know how hard it is waiting every single month... Since I was off work last time, I was very bored and obsessed even more, thus tested everyday from 8DPIUI on. I also visited the website ovusoft.com to talk to people that were in the same boat (even formed a little buddy group of Dec. IUI). If you decide to do the same, stay away from the "miscarriage and infant loss" section - it will drive you crazy after you find out you are pregnant but still cannot hear/see the heartbeat. I thought that when I found out I was finally pregnant it would be the happiest time of my life - and it was for 24 hrs! The next day I began to worry: first about confirming with a blood test and checking every 48hrs to see if the numbers were doubling; then waiting for that magic u/s to confirm a real pregnancy and see the heartbeat (I wasn't even sleeping). Now I am more "relaxed", but frankly, I will truly enjoy it after the 1st trimester is over - what is normal I think

Did you Pee on a Stick (POAS)? When can you accurately?...
I had IUIs and then IVF- I refused to POAS since I had 2 chemical pregnancies (pregnancies not recognized "?officially" but your body shows a delay in menstrual cycle etc. substantiating this) -Did you do some special fertilization diet/ritual/raindance to make it successful Baby aspirin every day, fish oils, extra folic acid, -Did you take it easy ? (avoiding lifting/working, etc) during TTC I tried to relax- major pampering- after a while it was unsastainable since I wasn;t preggo- but overall, if you do IVF, stay in bed as long as you can and avoid lifting for 3 days.. take it easy -did you avoid other things (hot baths, sex, caffeine, prostitution, cocaine use ....)i stayed off caffeine for pg1 and then up to halfway of pg 2-sex we were paranoid-Did you have symptoms that were indicative of a pregnancy? (implantation bleeding/sore breasts, etc)- I had many similar menstrual symptoms- but my breasts hurt so much, I had some bleeding at one point but my lack of bleeding was never the sign- I just felt halfway- half bleeding- cramps- best wshes to everyone.. |

My wife and I are waiting for our results, hoping third time will be the charm for IUI, and I am going crazy with the wait. It is just so frustrating to not be able to get the results quicker. UGH.
My wife does not take the home pregnancy tests, because she was warned against false positives due to the medications and it would be hard to work through the emotional baggage that would come with a false positive. She doesn't avoid exercise. etc. at this point. She does keep a diet that will be the same when she is expecting (no caffine etc.) |
